Why Socks Are Important

Ask any one who has served in the Infantry and they will tell you the most important commodity next to food or ammo for a Marine, Soldier, Sailor or Airman in the field is a good pair of clean socks.  For those who are deployed in the front lines, without laundry facilities, having clean socks takes on a whole new level of importance.  Dirty socks lead to injured feet, which result in additional injuries.  Socks For Heroes sends bulk socks to American Combat Units so that if they don’t have laundry facilities they can wear them once and then dispose of them.  This simple service provided to America’s warriors has enabled thousands of Americans to go through their deployments with fewer foot issues resulting in healthier more effective tours. At a little over $3 a pair, you can help an American in harm’s way.  $30 will purchase a months supply of socks for one American.  $150 for a squad.  $1,000 for a Platoon.  While it may not seem important to civilians, a clean pair of socks to a young man or woman serving far from home can make all the difference.
